Flat Tire

Got to Snyder, Tx last night and the only camp spot we could find was at Country View RV Park - a few spots a farmer has carved out of one of his fields - literally. This is wind farm country - there are hundreds of windmills here. Wind farm workers take up the spaces. Anyway we got up to a flat tire this morning. Gary was pleased to find that our spare was also a Goodyear G6. He was also glad he bought the torque wrench Rick Galant had talked him into purchasing in Rockport. The farmer led us into the Goodyear store in Snyder and said he'd pay for the fix since we got the "nail" in his lane. Turned out the "nail" was a welding rod. We're still waiting for them to put it back on so don't know how far we'll get today - anyway, no hurry. We don't have to be home until Saturday.

Gary in Luckenbach, TX

A Surprise in Fredericksburg

The dealer in San Antonio took care of several of the little items that needed to be fixed on the camper. They got done about 3:30 so we decided to drive to Fredericksburg - about 1-1/2 hours away. Fredericksburg is a German settlement and a big tourist town.  Son Steven's inlaws, Ron and Shari Knapp from Centennial, CO, come down here a couple months a year and work a few hours a week at the Fredericksburg KOA. We decided to take a look at the campground. When he checked in Gary mentioned our relationship and the owner said, "They're here now, do you want to park next to them?"  We had no idea they were down here now. Ron was sitting outside when we pulled in and the look on his face was great.  Same with Shari when she returned from shopping. We had a great Mexican dinner last night with them and plan to do a little sightseeing today.  One stop will be Luckenbach, Tx - you know, "Waylon and Willie and the boys" - about 5 miles away.  Right now it is cool and misting.

Leaving Woody Acres

We left Woody Acres in Fulton, Texas at 7:30 this morning. Not many people left to say goodbye to.  We're on our way to ExploreUSA in San Antonio where we purchased our RV. Hopefully they'll get most of our little things that need to be fixed taken care of today.  Temp is 62 at 10:00 am and overcast.
