June 1 - Teslin, Yukon Milepost 776

At last a campground with internet.  We've been trying to get in about 300 miles a day but have decided we'll slow down a bit now.  There really hasn't been much to report except for vast, beautiful terrain.

This lake was partially frozen.  As you can see, the road is great and has been all the way.

Here we are at Mile 0 on the Alaska Hwy in Dawson Creek.

This is a picture of the historic wooden curved Kiskatinaw River Bridge I told you about in my previous blog.

One thing we've found pretty interesting is that there is a Rotary Park in many of the towns in BC and Alberta.  Makes us wonder if this was a National Rotary project.

So far we've seen moose (crossing in front of us), Stone Sheep (which are indigenous and are between the size of a mountain goat and a Rocky Mountain sheep), deer, buffalo and black bear.  Unfortunately 3 or 4 of my pictures came up data corrupted but I'm sure I'll have plenty of opportunity to show you more.

Stone Sheep

This river was so crystal clear you could see an exact reflection.  I would have loved to take a picture of the reflection but no place to pull off.  This is typical of the width of the rivers.  They are very wide.

Above is the Watson Lake Signpost Forest (Milepost 635). It was started by a U.S. Army soldier while working on the construction of the hwy in 1942.  Travelers are still adding signs which now number more than 61,000.  Wish we had known and we would have come prepared to add one.  This picture shows just a small portion of the signs posted.

It's now 9:06 and very light. We're off to Whitehorse tomorrow. Maybe I'll have internet again there, if not who knows when but I'll keep you up to date as best I can.
