We're here - Alaska

June 4    Pictures are worth a thousand words they say. Here we are leaving the Yukon and entering Alaska.

We stayed at the Tok (rhymes with poke) RV Village in Tok, Alaska.  The park has been owned by the same family for many years.  One unique feature of the park was free evening entertainment.  The owners' grandson (banjo) and granddaughter (fiddle) along with an older gentleman who sang and played the guitar, very well I might say, performed for an hour and they were very good.

June 5    Today we got to Fairbanks, our most northerly destination.  Along the way we crossed the Robertson River and were surprised to see how much ice remained and how thick it was.  I also saw a moose along the road but couldn't get the camera up quickly enough,

On our way to Fairbanks we passed through Delta Junction - the official end of the Alaska Highway (milepost 1422).  We took some pictures of the monument there but have now found that our camera's memory card is bad and we lost the rest of today's photos.  We'll have to buy a new card tomorrow.  One was of the pipeline suspended over a river.

Tonight we're at the River View RV Park in Fairbanks.  I think tomorrow we're going to move to one closer into the center of town.  It's now light about 20 hours a day.  Thank goodness we have very dark shades in our bedroom.  A couple of times I've been sitting here reading and when I looked at the clock it's already 11:00 pm.
